Pilgrimage to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe
April 11-19, 2004
Many of you have asked about my pilgrimage to Mexico. It was very peaceful and I had plenty of time to contemplate Our Lady and enjoy the company of all those who traveled with me. It is during these pilgrimages that I am able to see many of the people who live outside of Miami who unite with us once a year. How wonderful it is to pray, laugh and bond with brothers and sisters in Christ.
The sisters, Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, recreate each place on our itinerary into a holy and unforgettable experience. The highlight of the pilgrimage was Our Lady of Guadalupe. How beautiful she is…I was in awe… Her radiant and majestic presence can not be overlooked for the very Sun of suns is Her usher…Oh but what humility on the face of the Woman with the moon under her feet.
My heart pounded with joy and reverence before St. Juan Diego’s tilma. I spent much time admiring the colors and details of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s clothing. How she evangelized hundreds of thousands without the need of many words. I thought, “Lord, what do you want to teach me through Our Lady.” I felt a strong call to evangelize the Civilization of Love and Life without the need of many words. My very person should say to those who come in contact with me…the Good News…I wondered if my clothing, my attitude, my body language, my actions were a reflection of that which I profess.
I offered all of your prayers to Our Lady. I prayed for all those that I have, do and will know in my lifetime. Most especially for those who ask for my prayers. I have no doubt that Our Lady has presented them all at the throne of Our Father in Heaven. I hope that this short note will offer many of you the hope of knowing that you have been placed in Our Lady’s Heart.
